Carotid

The carotid arteries are major arteries in the neck that supply oxygenated blood to the head and brain. The common carotid divides into the internal carotid (supplying the brain and eyes) and the external carotid (supplying the face and neck). The carotid sinus contains baroreceptors for blood pressure regulation. Carotid atherosclerosis is a major risk factor for ischemic stroke.
