Bronchus

The bronchi are the large airway passages that branch from the trachea into each lung. The right main bronchus is wider and more vertical than the left. They further divide into secondary (lobar) and tertiary (segmental) bronchi, forming the bronchial tree. Their walls contain cartilage plates and smooth muscle. They conduct air to the bronchioles and are involved in conditioning inhaled air.
