Olfactory bulb

The olfactory bulb is a forward projection of the brain located above the nasal cavity. It is the first processing station for the sense of smell. Receptor neurons in the nasal epithelium send axons directly to the bulb, where odor information is initially processed and organized into glomeruli. This data is then relayed to higher brain regions like the olfactory cortex and limbic system, linking smell strongly to memory and emotion.
