Supporting cells of vestibular epithelium

These are non-sensory epithelial cells in the vestibular sensory patches (e.g., maculae of utricle/saccule, cristae of semicircular canals) of the inner ear. They surround and provide structural and metabolic support to the hair cells. They help maintain the ionic composition of the endolymph and may participate in repair processes, though their regenerative capacity in mammals is limited.
