Motor system
The motor system, often synonymous with the motor division of the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system, enables all voluntary movement. It involves the brain planning movement, the spinal cord transmitting signals, motor neurons carrying commands, and muscles executing contractions. It integrates sensory feedback (proprioception) for coordination and balance. Skeletal muscles, bones, and joints provide the structural and mechanical framework for movement, posture, and stability.
